Although primarily a "self-taught" artist with a love of art of all ages, styles and subject matter, she has studied with several local artists and attended workshops by local and nationally known artists. Her work has been displayed in numerous juried exhibitions, including shows with the Montgomery Art Guild, the Selma Art Guild, the Tennessee Women's Museum in Huntsville, SAC's Gallery, and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. She has placed in many competitions and received purchase awards. She has been the recipient of the Montgomery Art Guild's Foy Gilmore Scholarship Award. Her work is included in both corporate and private collections. She has served as Vice President of the Montgomery Art Guild and President of the Society of Arts and Crafts of Montgomery. The show is in Memory of Nell Hardeman, the founder of this competition. The Reception and Awards Presentations are, SUNDAY, September 12, 1 TO 5 PM Montgomery Visitor Center Union Station EXHIBIT WILL BE ON DISPLAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30th Visitor Center Hours: M-Sa 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Su 12-4 p.m. Competition Rules: * Works of art have a "Water" or "Downtown Montgomery" theme. * Entries must be brought to the Visitor Center on Wed, Sep. 8th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. * Entries will be accepted in 3 Categories: o Cat. 1: Paintings, Drawings and Original Prints o Cat. 2: Photography and Computer Generated Works o Cat. 3: Three-Dimensional Works * 2 D Entries must be framed or gallery wrapped and have wire for hanging. * Items must not have been entered in a previous Waterfront Show. * Best of Show, and 1st-3rd place in all categories, will receive appropriate rosettes and monetary awards. Prize amounts will be based on the number of entries. Ribbons will be awarded for Honorable Mentions. * A purchase award in the amount of $500 will be awarded. Purchase Awards may be awarded in the Amount of $250 as well.
